I have this really weird urge to write a fanfic inspired by the glitchy and bad Sonic games where their entire world is revealed to literally be a series of little glitches that all add up to explain the current state of affairs of the world basically being one giant glitch
And like the characters realise that their world isn’t meant to be and what they thought were cool personas they were affecting (the way you kinda do when you’re a teenager) is just bad two-dimensional writing they let permeate them not knowing that’s what it was
Today I dreamed I was in some sort of gas-station-like area, though I don’t know really know why. I think it was a case of “I’ve done everything in this area, and need to make it to the next one to continue on my quest”.
But in order to continue on my journey, I had to use these small buses that came around near the gas station every two minutes or something, but only stopped for about five seconds. It was old-platforming-game levels of frustrating. (I probably had this dream because I’d been playing one recently, and dealing with university buses that were on a time scale about 4 times that)
it was basically impossible to catch these buses just by running over to them from any reasonable waiting place,
Today I had a dream that was kind of all over the place but almost cool when it started doing that inventing-dream-technologies thing that happens in so many of my dreams.
The dream started with me finding some kind of VHS tape of an old megaman cartoon. I was a teeny bit over-excited about it. I knew that such things had not really been good from what I’d seen of them, and my brother said/gave some vibe to the effect of “haha, you care about missing that old garbage“, but still I was going to put it in.
Today I had a dream that I looked in one of the baskets I put clean clothes in and found that instead of the typical one (1) ball python that would sometimes sneak in there there were about five this time.
Oh good god, I thought to myself, I guess I’ll just have to take them outside.
Scooping up the snakes, I walked out the door, and found that the yard was halfway flooded with water practically creating a small pond. It was exceedingly beautiful, when the reflections of the trees and the dull olive-coloured evening sky came down into it, but a little inconvenient for doing anything in the yard.
So…. the dream completely forgetting about the snakes, I and a few family members just went up onto the deck where a white table resembling a plastic deck chair was set up and started to “play game shows”, which we could apparently do with some kind of LED lighted device a little bigger than a cubical television. I don’t think any of us actually had the faintest idea how it worked but we were definitely going to try.
I just had a dream where I was going to what I guess was the music building at my university (it looked nothing like it, of course), after never having practised my instrument and mostly forgetting I’d signed up for a music class. I was about to have to either go into the room and “face the music”, so to speak, or never set foot in the room again and drop the class. Fairly typical dumb anxiety dream that I swear I’ve already had twice in some form.
The more interesting part of the dream was the beginning, though.
As I was coming into the building, I’d gone over to use the restroom.
But as I looked at the doors, I was suddenly overcome with a realisation:
Oh god, this is one of those older buildings.
In this dream, I apparently lived in a universe where it used to be that one door was labelled with a stylised male figure and the words “White/Male/Cis/Het” while the other door had no human figure and was simply labelled “Others”.
Today I had a dream that involved elevators with open doors that could go places elevators don’t normally go. I nearly forgot it when I woke up so I don’t remember a lot of it, sadly.
At first I was just getting on normal elevators that only went up one or two floors though a little bit fast. Then there was one that shot up some 500 floors really fast, through this building that was still building itself before your eyes to catch up to the elevator except the elevator was going way too fast so it just went up into the sky.
Today I had a dream that I and a number of “classmates” (from highschoolcollege, of course) were playing baseball but there were no real rules so we were just kinda making things up as we went along.
We had a very small fenced square which was on a boardwalk for some reason (which to be fair was a very wide boardwalk the square was nearly the whole width of), where each of the corners had a base on it and a ton of people, maybe 100, were standing on the water side of the enclosure just watching, along with about 30 people on the land side.
I didn’t have a bat. The “pitcher” was standing opposite me on the second base, just kinda tossing a red plastic ball that wasn’t even a baseball, and sometimes I would catch it and throw it back but other times I would miss, because the ball was only half good at bouncing and hard to predict. After a few rounds of this I realised maybe I should try to run, and ran to second base assuming I could do that if I got there before the ball stopped. Nobody in the huge crowd critiqued me so I guessed it was good.
Then other people started coming to the plate, and the game increasingly started to get more “rules”. When the ball was flying but the person on first base neglected to run, somebody in the crowd snappily reminded me that I couldn’t do that. But shortly after that happened, the bases were being replaced with small palm-sized traffic cones for some reason and they had to put in two more bases before third and home. This was ostensibly to alleviate the crowding on second base where the “pitcher” had to stand in front of the base, but I think the “pitcher” was still standing exactly where she was.
