I realised that without ever using that word I’d basically made Hughes an Originator by accident because I had that one random idea that as a joke he’d tell a weird and unsettling story about Papa Stork dropping baby bird-people aka “Ciconians” that were planning to take over the world and retcon Papa Stork into folklore and existence, and then also recently I had an idea that his crow persona was based on a story about “Sibh Kraeh” he’d make up and again retcon into folklore and existence the whole idea of that character if he got really into that schema
And then I realised if Hughes can retcon legends into legendness and into existence he could effectively recreate all the history that Era siphoned up, albeit in a weird bluesy way that had some distinct differences from the original
Dammit, Papa Stork is actually a thing now
I needed a blazon animal for Incongruity and I realised the bird-people he supposedly brought were about perfect for that, which led to him actually becoming a thing though the bird-people aren’t, they’re a misinterpretation of Mega-Mierundaro’s members and so Papa Stork lives at MM with them
(He’s an MB of course so he’s not actually a he in any meaningful sense, but Arkturuse or somebody decided he looked like some kind of patriarch and started whimsically calling him “Papa Stork” and it stuck. He could care less what others refer to him as.)
One night I had this weird idea for RFS that maybe Hughes would be telling this weird story about where he “came from” (a joke story) when somebody asked, and it would be about how this creature named Papa Stork would fly over the world, so big he blocked out the sun, and drop baby birdpeople in random places whose mission was to clean up the mess humanity made and boot them all out, and every one of them could transform into a different bird and the first thing they were going to do was replace harmful factories with productive birdseed farms and kill all the cats, and so forth.
“…’and’ nothing. You’re all going to die, I’m sorry. ;)”
