I had a dream that I… uh… became Garfield But the weird thing about it was that I had only become Garfield in the future, due to some decision I had made in the past. It was some kind of karmic punishment or something.
I wasted zero time figuring out how to get back to the past and break the Garfield curse, which was apparently accomplished by retreating to the cat bed in the far room and sitting in it. …At least, that’s what I really hoped would work. After a few attempts I figured out how to shrink to a small size along with the bed.
I had a dream I was searching for css coding help on google.
I ended up on this wiki page that was some kind of css tricks wiki, which was showing how to use css to render a second shape inside a shape you already had, assuming that you wanted to render a second outline a pixel or two inside a shape you already had so you could have a shape with a double outline. That wasn’t quite what I wanted, but fortunately they’d boiled it down to just a simple ‘draw a shape, the second one has nothing to do with the first one’.
I occasionally just kinda think about the fact that in the original Spyro the Dragon series Spyro’s home “world” is divided into like seven realms and each of them has a specific “job” it does. Spyro comes from the Artisan realm, but that was always weird to me because Spyro never really seemed like much of an artist
But then today I suddenly realised
What if Spyro was supposed to be a musician
Think about it. The games are so defined by their musical aesthetic, particularly this one style of slap guitar (?) that’s used in the opening but also in a number of other tracks,
Challenge myself to come up with 36 different “shotoclone” concepts each with some kind of unique backstory in the space of a few hours. (I only managed 23)
Decide that the ultimate kyokushinclone was a sentient reactor shaped vaguely like a polar bear made of cute glowing death
Write the phrase “afraid the library repo guys would get them“
Stories are such a major thing for me and I want/need to write more short stories
I think, because that’s the main thing I feel like writing about, I might just kinda start this small “anthology” where I write short stories about characters in the Stablehand universe
The idea being like, there’s no specific goal in it to write the stories about any specific characters or specific anything (or really any goals/quotas for it at all), but just to write whatever my random prompts bring to mind and get something written
Any of these could easily be declared noncanon by the time the gamebook gets somewhere significant but if they aren’t, I’ll have actually practised using the characters and established their personalities
(I’ve discovered that weirdly, I’m really really bad at figuring out who characters are before I write stories, but if I just sit down and write immediately and make up everything as I go along (I first noticed this with the character songs I wrote but it works for regular text stories too) I can actually do a pretty all right job of making up interesting details about characters along the way. What I make that way often isn’t totally coherent and needs to be re-evaluated and fixed, but scrapping and rewriting writing is literally the way you’re supposed to do it so that’s hardly a problem)
I’m probably going to, for the first time ever, make a single self-contained tumblr/inkstand for the project and stick to it. (though the posts might also go on my server or in a downloadable TW file for completeness/backup)
It’ll be called… hmm… it’s gotta be an SH acronym. :p
That’s my working title unless I think of a better one.
I had the most amazing and ridiculous image
Ok so you’re gonna need some context for this.
In Nassak’s story, there’s kinda this little exposition sequence that tells the story of how Vergoszya oppressed Mazzul, and it’s kinda supposed to evoke the style of a Bible story a little bit. It’s in draft like most story things in Stablehand but the gist of it (or the important part) is this
People (to monster snakes, desperately): What can we do to keep you out?
Vergo: You must build walls. Many, many walls. All over. Through everything. Separating everyone from everything and blocking everyone from everybody, so high that they even block out the sun. Make a tower of walls. A tower of towers of walls.Vergo: When you have put walls around everyone and everything, we will not breach them.
But of course the snakes are gonna come back anyway using the walls as an aid to corner the people
It just occurred to me today
They promise they’re not gonna break the walls but that doesn’t at all stop them from coming in over the walls
What if when they were invading, there were just these dark clouds of Portent hanging over the city and Portensilisks very literally rained out of them from the sky
So for a long time I had this idea of the “flaredrakeicorn” and the idea Mega-Mierundaro/Arkturuse would have two Accessories that each represented Xai and Zed but I never really had them designed. It is now time to fix that.
Arkturuse’s Accessories are made of these mythical animals:
flaredrakeicorn: Es – AEX (flardraco) / U – TEZ (phoenix) / W – ATX (unicorn) / V – ATZ (griffin thing)
kamaileopard: Ft – AEZ (leijon) / Fn – TEX (cœlailurus) / M – TTZ (kamaileo) / S –
Thirteen is eight plus five and minus one is four which is verity/portent
Before he became Portent Rider I feel like he was always that one infuriating guy who looks like he’s just sitting back and being lazy but is actually paying perfect attention/has a perfect handle on this
He has this spherical compass which would be standard issue in Aluma except he can turn the rings to shift to any latitude/longitude in the world, and maybe he just invented that out of boredom
So every so often, just playing around, I’d assign attributes to characters from popular things (or sometimes less popular) that distinctly weren’t Stablehand, to try to get a better feel for how the attribute system worked.
I made a pretty decent handful of those posts. But they weren’t really collected anywhere. And I realised one day, that’d make it pretty hard to find any of them at a moment’s notice if anybody actually wanted to know what attribute I assigned a character. So, I decided to undertake the task of putting them all in one post by story/series and date (because my view of attributes changes and that might be useful to have).
Undertale very accidentally gave me a stablehand idea
Me: Isn’t it weird that Sans can bleed when he doesn’t have blood
Me: Where does that blood come from anyway
Me: …From the Plane of Edge, of course!!
Me: That sounds like a legit thing Stars Reims would be familiar with
Me: If it weren’t called something that obvious, maybe more like, “The Plane of Mood”
The Plane of Mood is probably a subsection (aka “sphere”) of the Aether, concerned with Ruin. Its central locale would probably have like all this churning bloodlike fluid with globs oozing around like a giant blood lava lamp
Makes me realise, Ruin’s association with blood is probably cause Ruin stays Envira like Esteem. I think I’m gonna stick with that format like I did on the quiz, that each of the UD atts is exactly the same attunes as its directed counterpart except for Direction (as opposed to opposite attunes from the directed counterpart).
