Last night I had a dream that a friend on tumblr sent me a message asking if she could make her fan player character for Hyper Light Drifter work for my monarch OC I’d tentatively made when I didn’t know much about the game but her secondhand gushings

I was like, uhhh I’m still not sure how canon they are but? if this weird mess I threw together based on something I intuitively felt should exist in HLD’s world makes any sense, yeah sure why not


This was my “OC”, pretty much exactly. Their “story” was something like, they were drawn to hyperlight to gain power, and did, but became this sorta zombieish thing unable to stop bursting it out of themself, their body sort of in this constant battle between being preserved and torn apart by it. (Their central tear is like, a bust seam, and their feet no longer work right and have gone kind of limp. But I imagine them being able to throw out really powerful magic by flailing forth their entire useless body really hard.)

I still know very little about Hyper Light Drifter.
In fact, now I think I know even less than I did before. :p

So I had a dream that… started out really ordinary, but then after a certain point got progressively weirder and weirder.

First my brother’s parrot was crawling around the walls of its cage trying to get out in order to threaten to bite me, and kept finding doors to get out, after which I’d shoo it back in. Instead of just one like in reality, there were like three doors on the cage; it was built a lot more like the cage we used to keep parakeets in (which had two doors).

I occasionally just kinda think about the fact that in the original Spyro the Dragon series Spyro’s home “world” is divided into like seven realms and each of them has a specific “job” it does. Spyro comes from the Artisan realm, but that was always weird to me because Spyro never really seemed like much of an artist

Howdy, I’m Stewey. Stewey the stewer

So, last night I had a dream where I for some reason made up two very strange but pretty amazing things about Stewey from Family Guy

First, I woke up, either in the dream or actually (I think it was in the dream though) and
when my eyes were closed I was greeted with this perfectly Undertale-styled monochrome sprite of Stewey as an “Amalgamate”. (It looked a little more like somebody tried to kill Stewey the Undying with ambiguous success, but I think he was supposed to be an Amalgamate.)

I really hope that a week from now somebody will find this on Google images and go “what the actual fuck?”

I used to wonder what an att could be

So as I’ve been programming Seven Heirs (Undertale tribute using the in-progress Stablehand engine) I’ve been learning some things about Stablehand/Sixteen Hues.

For 7h, I wanted to build a “Stablehand-style RPG-ish encounter system”, because RPG encounters are a big part of Undertale but I never thought about how one would work in Stablehand and thought that would be an interesting experiment. For reference, this is called the “Confrontation” system.

And I thought about how I was building it (or planning to), and realised, this pretty much illustrates exactly what attributes were/are supposed to be.

Attribute and attitude drafts for Seven Heirs, a short gamebook thingy I’m making to force me to get off my butt and make the Stablehand engine, and as a tribute to Undertale.

The first thing I realised when examining the idea and thinking about how I’d apply attributes to the characters was… wait, Undertale already has those! And almost eight of them! Might as well use those instead.

Instead of Agency/Environment/Chroma, 7h uses a slightly different attunement scheme of Aid/Ideals/Activity,
