Getting a degree in Aluma

So this will be a short post, maybe I’ll add on to it later. But I just imagine getting a degree in Aluma to be the actual wildest thing

Verity / Aeterna

In Aeterna they have the Sophius academy for Sharps, where many important ‘science’ people get started. What I already had established is it’s kind of like a university but with its own quirks, at the very least the rather obvious one of having a giant Directed attribute mascot in the basement.

The Awesome Brotherhood

I was just thinking about how some palaeontology fans refer to intentionally inaccurate dinosaurs as “awesomebro” and then

I just kinda imagined this group of punkish people with terrorlizards stylishly soliciting you to “come join the awesome brotherhood” in the tone you’d say “come to the dark side”

I think that’s kind of a great and amusing name and also concept so I’m kinda thinking about adding it to Stablehand because I know they’d get into so many great shenanigans. The name sounds like some kind of secret society freemasons shit and I imagine people talking about them with a weird amount of respect while in the actual group they are just a bunch of losers who pull weird performance art to see what they can accomplish kinda.

So today I was thinking about Usmana, the destroyed “Spanish lion kingdom”, and how I was kind of turning aspects of it into my SF tribute by playing with what exactly ‘martial art’ means, and what I can do with a lion character in Stablehand what with lions being This Whole Thing in the worldbuilding. I’ll post about that later.

What that got me thinking about is what kind of weaponry Aluma uses in general.

I think that generally, people don’t really use firearms a lot. They’re a thing, but they’re considered kind of primitive since cirque can often be so effective against them.

Fancy rep1icaWatches for you, just like Aeterna-made

I was just kind of thinking about Kris’s flow merge

Originally I imagined it just being a bracelet but like, what if it was a watch

A really fancy watch with tessellated crystally blue diamond shapes, like one of those fake rolex type things

(They probably make some fairly fancy watches in Aeterna given watches are the major product of Aeterna, Aeterna, so in one way it only makes sense for other places like Easboro to try to cash in on that by making vaguely similar fancy watches for cheaper)

Xera Flaredrakeicorn and Zyra Kamaileopard

So for a long time I had this idea of the “flaredrakeicorn” and the idea Mega-Mierundaro/Arkturuse would have two Accessories that each represented Xai and Zed but I never really had them designed. It is now time to fix that.

Arkturuse’s Accessories are made of these mythical animals:

OCtober: Ssivyin

Ssivyin has been one of those characters I really liked and thought had a lot of potential but then kinda didn’t actually develop. Most of what I’ve been going heh this is great already about is stuff about their parents and area.

So… Ssiv. What’s established already: they’re genderfluid. They have recently started sharing their body with a malicious Observer, sharing being a very charitable way of putting it. Their parents are Vair Severance, the incredibly irresolute “leader” wielding previously huge scissors and now literal spike heels, and Blot Serval, the furry-commanding cat-person. They don’t like to get involved in politics or petty arguments.

Sirriparn

Spiriters originally were an Aeterna thing. They were just minor inland thieves. Then Sengra pirates came in and “stole” their faerie friends, displacing them in Ssairetta and expanding out into the ocean. From that point on Sirriparn went from minor boring unknown petty thieves to ridiculous truck-hijacking maniacs

It may be that Ssairetta’s weird habit of jumbling syllables in words (Ssiatterra? → Ssairetta, spiriter → sirripar) originally came from Sengra mangling Aeterna language because they didn’t care,

Nall Ssingalain

Ok I finally gave them a name after all this time

The person who unified Aeterna is named Nall Ssingalain.

Their ‘family name’ means “none”; it’s supposed to be cognate with “null”. (I imagine it was already a regular word too and when being poetic Aeterna might well write “all or nall”. :p) It was a very untraditional choice up to their time that they chose to reflect their ideology of non-affinity with any faction or clan, though probably recurs in some small frequency in the modern era as people who identify with them do the same.
