Rotator Phoenix sounds like Revolver Ocelot

ripe-for-gelatino

Hahaha I never noticed that

Which is especially funny when there is something very loosely inspired by MGS in Stablehand, namely the Machination attribute, so under that attribute you have “Fox” and “Serval” and “Kolonok” (a type of weasel) and–though it was a coincidence and not intended–a snake man whose dad has an eyepatch

Me: This faerie looks kinda like a Telefang monster

Me: …it would be fucking hilarious if faeries invented cell phones in this world

Me: Considering that they’re basically evil, if people knew where these phones were coming from they’d probably not want to use them

Me: ‘nope nope this supposed ‘mobile telephone’ as you call it is probably possessed’

So I was working on fleshing out the idea I’d had of using technique trees today, and got a pretty ridiculous but great idea

All Wings-07′s cirque techniques are literally just job skills pulled from “things you should put on your resume” lists

And like, depending on which skills he upgrades it determines what job he can get :p

I like the idea his flowspace (basically a combo character screen/objectives screen that’s styled differently for each character, if you haven’t been following) is quite literally his resumé and as he upgrades techniques it changes, with the next techniques he’s going to get in there with question marks

Update:

Until Stablehand, I never realised how contradictory “things you should put on your resume” lists could be…

The only place to get Multi Links on the internet (maybe)

Today I was treated to a nice rude awakening when after my hard drive failed and I got a new computer, I was like, well, I think I’ll go install some of my old extensions again.

It went fairly well… until I wanted to reinstall Multi Links.

I googled it. I thought I’d found it twice or three times.
But it was nowhere to be found, and all of its replacements were buggy garbage that didn’t work by now. One, which I decided not to touch with a ten foot pole, was rumoured to randomly delete spellcheck dictionary files.

What the heck?” I said to myself. “The old version I kept using for years without ever realising it was outdated worked just fine!

Sure enough, I went to my slightly-underused backup HD and found the old one. And you know what? It still worked like a charm. The thing is I don’t know how old, and unlike any number of “new” forks of itself doesn’t sputter in new versions of firefox.

FINALLY, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT HERE.

Carbonado and the Techs… and stuff

I got like four post ideas in the shower and had to squash them all together whoops

Sirriparn

Spiriters originally were an Aeterna thing. They were just minor inland thieves. Then Sengra pirates came in and “stole” their faerie friends, displacing them in Ssairetta and expanding out into the ocean. From that point on Sirriparn went from minor boring unknown petty thieves to ridiculous truck-hijacking maniacs

It may be that Ssairetta’s weird habit of jumbling syllables in words (Ssiatterra? → Ssairetta, spiriter → sirripar) originally came from Sengra mangling Aeterna language because they didn’t care,

On art commentary

Commenting on art is not easy, when you think about it.

When you see a thing your natural inclination is to pick out what you think is weird/interesting/strikes you/amuses you
Because that’s a perfectly acceptable way to comment on a lot of things.

“Oh look it’s a dog Zygarde” “Man that’s weird” “Is that a dick on its knees”
Perfectly normal and acceptable conversation.

But art requires you to comment on it in a different way than pretty much anything else, and nobody tells you this until you leave bad art commentary.

Follow-up

Actually I’ve got it, I totally know why Vergozsya “came back”

Jinhuang didn’t destroy her in the first place. Jinhuang was nice to her and let her go

It was like, after catching her the first time, she’d actually been keeping Vergo contained and almost behaving pretty well but one day Vergo somehow persuaded Jinhuang to let her go and Jinhuang was like ok if that’s what you really want I’ll let you go and, well

This, of course, turned out to be a terrible decision.

Vergo got let go kinda because the main timeline is the timeline where Jinhuang does the most good for the world and… in this case that turns out to be just a teeny bit too much good. The Compulsion timeline is where Vergozsya wins and takes over the world with Portensilisks

Mitrokh and the Forsaken Places

Ok so it’d been the case for a while I was thinking the “old” place(s) of Fantasy and Faith (before the “neo” ones, Salvare and Techanopia) were situated somewhere around Vvaghras, and Ariana was born and raised in one of them at some point. I also sorta knew I wanted to have this ethnic group called the Saout, whose name are kind of a play on “Nords” (like North/South), but didn’t quiiiite know where they came from. The FantaFaith place(s) in south Mitrokh seemed like a good candidate, but I still didn’t know where that was.
