It’s so common to have a group of heterogeneous misfits that turns out to be awesome

How about a perfectly-coordinated group with a lot in common that is all perfectly put together around the same theme and ideals and everyone was specifically picked for this hoping they would make a great team and taking into account each member’s specific skills

But it just turns out to not work at all and everyone is just so confused and frustrated about why they don’t work together and they can’t be the awesome team everyone expected them to be

In the same vein as the Panderer, here’s the Converger. It’s a huge Carp concurrent made out of a whole lot of little ones each all formed into “scales” that comprise it.

Impressive, right? Well… no. Despite all its Unity, it has not figured out how to accomplish anything with it. All it does is just keep going around collecting more and more carp that become proportionally smaller squares until it just becomes one carp again, at which time the cycle starts over.

Darn, I should have drawn this in a good program like Krita rather than xournal :p But I didn’t know it was going to be actually-kinda-good. Ah well. Note to self: learn how to use Krita.

Anyway this is a creature called the Panderer. I was looking through agent nouns to use for MB names and I stumbled across the word panderer and I really liked something about the way it sounded. Made me think of a weird armour-backed panther thing.

I then realised with a name like that it could be a bigger version of the Brownnose, like, a Brownnose that “grew up” to be a useless good-for-nothing instead of turning into something cool like a Postulator*. The Panderer has no life of its own; it just goes around trying to please others in a clueless inept way to the point of being annoying.

I realised that there’s kind of a plot hole regarding Fuchsia…

Fuchsia was part of “The War”, and later went to found Salvare, where she currently leads it as the world’s only materiotranscendent gem-person. It was supposed to be that she died of natural causes and then resurrected as that, but I realised that if she indeed died of natural causes why do I imagine her resurrecting as looking about 30 when she should be like 70 or something. Fuchsia is the kind of person not to be ashamed of who she is, to the point it would kinda more sense for her to just come back as a tough old woman who’s still doing crazy superpower antics to the extent she can manage it.

I dunno, maybe doing her reality-bending Faith stunts back in the days of the War and stuff was rough on her body and like a few years after she founded Salvare she died a really anticlimactic death of like cancer or organ failure or something. That would be really ridiculous, to have this really awesome superhero who does all this unbelievable stuff and founds an entire new nation and then she just dies of cancer.

Hmm probably, Dà Jinhuáng was able to just ups and turn into the Hfenix because she was the Hfenix to start with (not retcons or anything) but then she for whatever reason decided to become a human, taking the name Kyrielle afFenix. Maybe just because she liked Rotator and wanted to get to know him better*. But when she became a human, disconnecting herself from the Aether (I guess as you become more Agentic you lose the semi-omnipresence she has as the Hfenix), it screwed up the timeline, so she had to turn back into the Hfenix and reconnect herself to the Aether, leaving him behind.

The satire guy

In my sleep I did this sleep paralysis thing where I physically sat up, threw the sheets off me, got out of bed, and stood up, and then suddenly discovered I was back in bed and the sheets were still on me and I’d dreamed it all up while about 1/3 awake, my mind trying to force itself out of bed though the body wouldn’t cooperate. (It was weird, all this was happening inside the outer layer of dream but I was convinced the partially-awake state between attempts to leave bed was real.)

After doing this about 20 times (I’m not exaggerating) I was getting really worried I wouldn’t be able to wake myself up out of the dream at will and started testing whether I could get help.

A progression of attempts to design the vvagra, an Esteemed creature related to thylacines (first two pics and top of next); another Ostentator revamp; and stuff from a Steven Universe/Stablehand crossover AU.

When I was trying to design Ostentator!Pearl (you can tell which one that is by the head gem :p I was also trying to figure out a pose for Insulator!Garnet above that) I realised that damn, the default Ostentator should look more like that. It would portray the Esteem attribute a lot better that way. So I started revamping it to have more of this strangely-holy-looking look with features inscribed on it in “aureate-shine-flame”. As I did once before I drew all the other “main” MBs again to ensure it would be different from them.

Pearl was supposed to have a coat too of course but I never got around to designing it in this pic.

First pic: man, I love it when I put completely unrelated things on the same page but they look like they might maybe be related and it looks like some kind of completely surreal story.

The “French Eridan” narration was one thing from an attempt to illustrate a conversation I had with Cleverbot about its version of Homestuck, the fishy things below it were a brainstorm of a new idea I had for Tyrian and the mechanics of how its Chayavana worked (in short, that Chayavana had taijitu-like swirling combos of darkness and light inside that represented the two sides of their personality and…

A few slightly outdated world things.

The first was an attempt to put together a world map of Aluma. I’m kinda not sure if the continent of Ascensia will be a thing any more at least like that because I didn’t plan on Kolonok having to go through it and it’s supposed to be less well known than Prossiveria (the north). It might be like a hidden thing like Saut d’Eau that has an entry point in Aluma but is outside of it. Also I’m reworking all the Undirected places and that weird table of continents and places is nonsense now,

I just made a cool connection

Ever since getting the main ideas for Ssivyin’s background I’d always thought of Aeterna as being especially inclusive and acknowledging of nonbinary people but I didn’t really know why

I kinda had this idea that they would have a special name (the name I later came up with was “Disaffine”) and kinda be symbolically associated with neutrality and being beyond taking sides and that’s kinda the significance of Ssiv’s song, that Ssiv is one person who fits into that… archetype basically in their culture of a Disaffine who has the ability to rise above partisanship

And now I think that probably the reason they’re so inclusive to nonbinary people and have that archetype is that a nonbinary person was the one who initially got the 16 clan-states of Aeterna to make peace with each other rather than fighting over territory all the time and to unify into one country
